Richard and Clare Annand welcome you to the Alma at Painter’s Forstal, Faversham
A truly rural, traditional pub, the Alma, is the perfect place to pop into while out exploring the picturesque countryside around Faversham.
The Alma has been a public house since 1837 and was originally known as the Candle House. The evocative name derived from the landlord lighting candles to show thirsty hop pickers the way to the pub and well needed refreshment in the dark.
Situated in the centre of the village of Painter’s Forstal, the Alma pub is only a short walk from the town of Faversham, the pub has a warm, friendly, traditional atmosphere and boasts a pretty beer garden and car park, with a new erected seating and smoking area.
We offer both lunch and dinner, serving homemade food, using locally sourced produce. Since taking over the pub in July 2011 the homemade steak and kidney puddings, the ham egg and chips and the sizzling chicken are already proving firm favourites.
As part of the Shepherd and Neame business we also serve a selection of real ales including: Master Brew, Early Bird, Late Red etc as well as a large selection of wines, to suit all tastes and pockets.
Over the year we will be offering a number of special events, including Murder Mystery evenings, Music Nights and Race Nights and a number of special events taking place on Monday, 4 June for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee to name but a few.
